A Walk Through Lyme Park

A Saturday Afternoon in Lyme Park

If I could recommend anywhere to go for a walk in Manchester/Cheshire, it would always be Lyme Park in Disley, Stockport. It’s one of those places with such varied terrains and an abundance of wildlife, a place you can get a bit lost in for a few hours.
This weekend Mat & I headed there with a couple of passengers in tow: his niece, Georgie, and Dobs (aka Dolly) the chihuahua. We trekked up through the woods, where we spotted lots of really cool twiggy dens, and eventually got to a point where we could see the whole of Stockport (or the whole of England, if you’re Georgie!). The views were beautiful, even if we had to stop ourselves from blowing away in the gale force winds to see them for a few minutes.
We even spotted a few deer on the way down, which really made me wish I’d brought my zoom lens! Then it was off to the playground for a little while before the rain came pouring down. The best way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

    Buckets & Spades

    • Oh definitely, it's one of my favourite places to visit to get away from it all 🙂

  • Ah I really really want a chihuahua! I never make an effort to go on walks like this but I know I would if I had a dog – shame I live in a rented house!

    • Yeah, dogs are always a good excuse and you get to see so many other breeds of dogs whilst you're walking! You should definitely ask your landlord about getting a pet x

  • Amazing walk through Lyme! Was looking for articles on Lyme CT in USA (my home) and stumbled upon your blog- absolutely breathtaking beauty! Thank you for sharing!

    • Oh wow, thank you so much! The wrong Lyme, but glad you enjoyed the post nonetheless 🙂

  • I need to make more time for walks like this.

    • I need to as well, I forgot how much I enjoy getting out to places like this!

  • I haven't been to Lyme Park in years, I grew up near there. I will have to go there for a walk next time I'm at home.

  • Lovely photos Sarah. I still need to drag Mr W to Lyme Park coz he's never been! I'm such a lover of Tatton too 🙂 We're very lucky to be surrounded by these parks in Manchester! x
